“In October 2020 I visited my doctor, having been concerned about my breathing difficulties. The doctor thought I had Long Covid, but also thought that losing weight would help, and suggested I join a weight management course.

“I was sceptical, having tried to diet before without success, but agreed to try the programme with Weight Management Leicestershire.

“Some 12 weeks later I have lost 8% of my body weight, which would have been impossible without this course.

“I would particularly like to thank my adviser, Kruti, for her weekly video calls, for her interest and encouragement, and for the very useful data she provided every week. She certainly made it possible for me.

“The five things that I found most useful were:

  1. Setting goals both weekly and long-term
  2. Menu planning and only buying what I needed
  3. Reducing portion sizes
  4. I found I still needed snacks between meals but switched to healthier alternatives, mostly fruit
  5. Encouragement from Kruti, and encouragement and support from my family.

“There has been some improvement in my health, and I intend to lose more weight through healthy eating.
